Play transforms the traditional magazine into a fully playable board game — a massive A1 poster designed by Amsterdam-based duo Robuche. It comes with a set of instructions and icon characters for up to four players, plus five A6 postcards created by the designers to send or display. Featuring illustrations, photography, short-form articles, interviews, and poetry, with work submitted by creatives from around the world, this issue embodies Pilot’s spirit of experimentation and risk-taking. Once the idea to make the “Play” issue an actual game board emerged, there was no turning back — to do otherwise would have been hypocritical to our mission. Inspired by our community’s bold creativity, we set out to create the gooey, playful A1 poster of our dreams. Designed by Robuche and filled with artists and writers who capture the essence of play, we can’t wait for you to experience this one.
